Anna Loewendahl is a performer, director & writer. She has extensive history & skill in creating collaborative devised performance. Anna’s physical theatre work includes ‘Bathing Beauty’ and ‘Bearded Lady’ for Barking Spider Visual Theatre, a dancer for YSpace, a compere and performer for the Shakespeare Festival, performer for Full On Theatre and performance poet and roving performer for numerous festivals. She currently trains in & performs Butoh.
Anna’s international credits include ‘Mau Apa?’ a market show; ‘The Rainbow Cow’ a puppet show & ‘Bruce Sipetualang’ a choose-your-own-adventure, all in Indonesia. For the Dunedin Fringe Festival, Anna created ‘You Must be a Bloody Idiot’, collaborating with teens. She has also performed dance theatre in Zimbabwe, India and the UK, and most recently collaborating with Dragon Dance Theatre, in Mexico, presenting ‘Return of NuttiPukkis’ a large scale mask show.
Anna is Director of TransVision Arts, creating performances with artistic organisations and community groups, including directing Melbourne’s Federation Square’s Advent Calendar. She is Artistic Director of Thieves Theatre, including director-writer of the puppet show ‘The Storm Glass’ plus performer in‘Lit From Within’ & ‘SkyJuice’ performed at the Malthouse. She is currently adapting a teen novel for stage.
